On January 13, the abbot of the St. Shoghakat Monastery in Echmiadzin, Archimandrite Ignatios Malkhasyan, performs the blessing ceremony of the new building of Quantum College. From January 13 to 19, at the 12th International Zhautykov Olympiad held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, four out of six students of Quantum College return with medals: Ashot Matevosyan — gold medal in physics, Edward Khalafyan — bronze medal in mathematics, Sevak Abrahamyan — bronze medal in mathematics, Alexander Karalyan — bronze medal in mathematics. In January, the college hosts Alexey Semyonov, Rector of Moscow State Pedagogical University, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Academy of Education. According to the results of the ranking of general education institutions of the Republic of Armenia for the 2014–2015 academic year, summarized in February 2016, Quantum College is recognized as the top non-state school in the country. On May 20, the Grand Hall of Yerevan State University hosts the ceremonial event dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Quantum College. For their significant contribution to education, a number of the college’s teachers are awarded gold medals, certificates of honor, and letters of appreciation from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia and Yerevan State University. Quantum College receives several prestigious awards: the “Coat of Arms of Yerevan” medal from the Yerevan Municipality, the “Viktor Ambartsumian” commemorative medal from the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, the Prize of the President of the Republic of Armenia for global contribution to information technologies. On June 10, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan visits Quantum College. Graduate of the IB Diploma Programme, Lusya Manukyan, achieves the maximum score of 45 points in the IB final examinations. On July 13, the Minister of Education and Science of Armenia, Levon Mkrtchyan, visits the “Orbit” military-sports camp of Quantum College. Students of Quantum participate in the International Olympiads in physics, biology, informatics, and astronomy, winning three medals: Ashot Matevosyan — bronze medal at the International Physics Olympiad, Alexander Karalyan — bronze medal at the International Biology Olympiad, Areg Grigoryan — bronze medal at the International Astronomy Olympiad. On November 13, the college is visited by the President of the Republic of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan.
In January, Albert Gevorgyan, a student of Quantum College, participates in the Zhautykov International Olympiad and achieves an excellent result in mathematics, winning a silver medal. In anticipation of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, various events, meetings, and lectures are organized throughout the academic year. As a result of a quadrilateral memorandum signed between the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia, VivaCell-MTS, Synopsys Armenia, and Unicomp, the college begins teaching specialized subjects in the new academic year: Microelectronics, Fundamentals of Telecommunications, Information Technologies. In May, Petr Mikyska, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Armenia, visits the college. Students of the college continue to achieve remarkable results at international Olympiads: at the International Physics Olympiad held in India, Ashot Matevosyan wins a bronze medal, and he also receives an honorable mention at the International Astronomy Olympiad held in Indonesia; Albert Gevorgyan returns with bronze medals from the International Mathematical Olympiad in Thailand and the International Olympiad in Informatics in Kazakhstan; Eduard Grigoryan also receives a bronze medal at the International Olympiad in Informatics. Among the three students representing Armenia for the first time at the International Geography Olympiad, two — Silva Hakobyan and Marianna Ghazaryan — are students of Quantum College. In July, the “Orbit” camp of Quantum College hosts an international summer school for students of the IB Diploma Programme, attended by students from the Chinese International School in Singapore, the A. Shirakatsi Lyceum in Yerevan, and Quantum College. In August, the college is visited by the world-famous American astronaut Buzz Aldrin and representatives of the Global Flight organization. The meeting is also attended by the U.S. Ambassador to Armenia, Richard M. Mills Jr. The Head of the Chemistry Department of Quantum College, Vitush Sargsyan, is awarded the title “Honored Teacher of the Republic of Armenia.” Arman Ghazaryan and Lusya Manukyan, students of the 12th grade of the IB Diploma Programme, receive the annual Prize of the President of the Republic of Armenia in the field of Information Technologies. Four top winners of the “Quantum-2015” competition for gifted children receive scholarships from the Koghb Foundation.
History teacher Mikael Malkhasyan, edited by Seyran Suvaryan, head of the geography department, published a scientific article on the vision of the assessment system at “Quant” College. Shushan Toneyan, a graduate of the college’s MB “Diploma” program, was admitted to Oxford University free of charge. In March, physics teacher Bella Davtyan was awarded the “Gold Commemorative Medal” of the RA Ministry of Education and Science. Eduard Grigoryan performed brilliantly in the “Spring – 2014” programming competition, where students from leading universities of the republic participate, taking third place. In April, “Quant” participates in the 14th international exhibition “Education and Career Expo 2014”. US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia John Heffern visits the college. In May, the “Gifted Children Competition” was held, the top four winners of which became the first scholarship recipients of the “Koghb” Foundation. With the support of the “Quantum” administration, the regional representative of the “International Baccalaureate” organization, Ake Sorman, arrives in Armenia. Within the framework of the meeting with the Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan, issues of recognition of the MB graduation diploma in the Republic of Armenia, introduction of the MB educational program in general education institutions, as well as coordination with Armenian educational programs are discussed. In July, at the 55th International Mathematics Olympiad held in South Africa, the college student Albert Gevorgyan is awarded a bronze medal, and at the 26th Informatics Olympiad held in Taiwan, Eduard Grigoryan is awarded a silver medal. The international conference of the “Mediterranean Institute of Fundamental Physics” was held in Stepanakert. In September, the “Quantum” elementary school opens in the new building of the college. Current and former Quantum students are winners in three categories of the President's most prestigious IT awards ceremony. The "Best Student" category was won by Gor Piliposyan, a graduate of the "Quant" school in 2013-2014, a student of Yerevan State University, and Serine Nazaryan, a 9th grade student of the school; the "Best Bachelor" category was awarded to Alexander Chatrchyan, a graduate of the 2009-2010 academic year, a student of Yerevan State University; and Artavazd Minasyan, a graduate of the 2003-2004 academic year, a graduate of Yerevan State University, won the "Best Postgraduate" category.
At the 24th International Biology Olympiad, held in Bern, Switzerland, Shushan Toneian and Vahagn Gevorgyan win bronze medals. Cooperation is established with the Embassies of the United States and France in Armenia within the frameworks of the “Fulbright English Teaching Assistant” and “Langue et civilisation française” programs. The first graduates of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme successfully pass their final examinations and receive admission offers from several leading universities around the world. Araqsya Simonyan, a history and social studies teacher at Quantum College, is awarded the Gold Medal “Vazgen Sargsyan” of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia for her contribution to the patriotic education of the younger generation. The director of the college, Robert Vardanyan, participates in an international conference in Moscow titled “The Educational Environment of the 21st Century: How Not to Get Lost in It.”
From July 21 to 30, at the 44th International Chemistry Olympiad held in Washington, students of Quantum College, Alexey Galoyan and David Chitchyan, win bronze medals. For his outstanding contribution to education and science, the Head of the Chemistry Department of Quantum College, Candidate of Chemical Sciences Vitush Sargsyan, is awarded the Gold Commemorative Medal of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia. The publishing house of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin releases the second revised edition of the monograph “Oshakan”, written by Mikael Malkhasyan, a teacher at Quantum College and the President of the Student Scientific Society of Yerevan State University. Graduates of the college Vahe Galstyan, Hayk Saribekyan, and Arshavir Ghahramanyan achieve new outstanding successes on the international stage. After successfully passing the required examinations and receiving high scores, they gain the opportunity to study at leading universities of the world: Vahe Galstyan — Princeton University (USA), Hayk Saribekyan — Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Arshavir Ghahramanyan — University College London (UCL).
From March 16 to 20, in Marino (Rome), the director of Quantum College, R. Vardanyan, participates in a conference organized by the Mediterranean Institute of Fundamental Physics, of which he is a member. During the conference, he also holds separate meetings with members of the institute’s scientific council. From April 11 to 15, Mikael Malkhasyan, an Honorary Graduate of Quantum College and a student of the Faculty of History of Yerevan State University, travels to Moscow upon invitation from Lomonosov Moscow State University. There he participates in the International Scientific Conference of Young Researchers “Lomonosov-2011”, presenting as a main speaker in the “History of Russia” subsection of the “History” section. It should be noted that among the 165 participants in the History section, the Honorary Graduate of Quantum College was the only participant from the Republic of Armenia. The college’s physics teacher Ishkhan Harutyunyan participates in the International Seminar for Physics Teachers, held in Trieste (Italy) from April 27 to May 3. On April 14, the college receives a certificate and becomes the first and only Armenian school in the world to be a member of the IB (International Baccalaureate) — the most influential international organization in the field of general education.
Out of the 7 medals won by the Armenian national team at international Olympiads, 3 are awarded to students of Quantum College. A. Chatrchyan and H. Tepanyan win bronze medals at the 22nd International Olympiad in Informatics, while V. Gevorgyan receives a bronze medal at the 15th International Astronomy Olympiad. In February, Yvette Gattas, a consultant from the Canadian governmental CESO program, visits the college. The purpose of the program is to develop a fundraising initiative aimed at introducing and localizing the LOGO programming environment in Armenian schools and acquiring the necessary licensing. The college’s distinguished graduate Vahe Musoyan is recognized as the best student at Stanford University. In connection with this achievement, the director of the college, R. Vardanyan, is invited to the United States. According to the protocol decisions of the Government of the Republic of Armenia No. 13 (April 8, 2010) and No. 19 (May 20, 2010), the college begins implementing two ambitious programs: the introduction of computer skills education in elementary school, the implementation of the first Armenian-language educational LOGO programming environment in general education. The Head of the Department of Informatics, A. Darpasyan, is awarded the “Movses Khorenatsi” Medal by the President of the Republic of Armenia.
Hayk Saribekyan receives a bronze medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad, while Hayk Galstyan wins a bronze medal at the International Physics Olympiad. From the International Astronomy Olympiad held in China, Hayk Tepanyan returns with a gold medal. Notably, Armenia and India each won two gold medals, outperforming representatives from Russia and several other countries. Commissioned by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia and within the framework of a World Bank credit program, the college develops and distributes to Armenian schools the first electronic textbooks in the country for English and Russian language subjects for grades 6–9. Barbara Old, a volunteer advisor from the CESO organization, visits Quantum College. In November, the college participates in the EXPO exhibition and receives a special award. A. Ashotyan, the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia, visits the college.
Students of Quantum College continue to reach new heights at international Olympiads. Hayk Saribekyan wins a bronze medal at the International Astronomy Olympiad. At the age of 15, he also becomes the absolute winner of the 5th All-Armenian Programming Competition for participants under 30. Martun Karapetyan receives a bronze medal at the International Olympiad in Informatics. Fred Spekken and Joan Spekken, volunteer advisors of the Canadian CESO program, visit Quantum College. F. Spekken prepares the college’s integration into the IB (International Baccalaureate) system, while J. Spekken develops a program to improve the sanitary-hygienic conditions and discipline at the college. In November, teachers and students representing the college visit Rinman College in Sweden, resulting in the ratification of an agreement on mutual visits between the two institutions.
Within the framework of the Canadian Government’s CESO program, Fred Spekken, a volunteer advisor of the organization, visits Quantum College. As a result, a project is developed to improve the internal management structure of the college. In March, Nelida Antuna Baragno, the regional manager of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), visits Quantum College. After becoming acquainted with the educational experience of the college, she proposes including the school in the IBO educational program. In April, the college hosts Gayane Gasparyan, a physics teacher from Rinman College in Eskilstuna, Sweden, and Oli Grahed, a biology teacher. A cooperation agreement is signed between the two sides concerning the exchange of educational programs and professional staff. Students of Quantum College receive bronze medals at international Olympiads: Martun Karapetyan — at the International Olympiad in Informatics, Arshavir Ghahramanyan — at the International Chemistry Olympiad.
With the support of the Enterprise Incubator Foundation, the Quantum College Summer Camp hosts the Informatics Summer School – 2006, attended by students from different countries (Russia, Georgia, and Lebanon), as well as students from Artsakh. The aim of the program was to promote the use of information technologies in education. Quantum College is visited by the Minister of Education and Science, S. Yeritsyan, to become acquainted with the college’s achievements. Quantum College celebrates the 15th anniversary of its foundation. By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia dated September 12, 2006, R. Vardanyan is awarded the honorary title “Honored Teacher of the Republic of Armenia.” The chess team of the college is recognized as the winner of the regional chess Olympiad. A student of Quantum College, D. Episkoposyan, wins a gold medal at the International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad.
A student of Quantum College, Vahe Musoyan, wins a gold medal at the International Olympiad in Informatics. In August of the same year, the college hosts the “Rossiyanochka” dance group from the city of Yurga, Kemerovo Region of the Russian Federation, accompanied by two teachers. The Quantum College camp also hosts Mr. Pavlov, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Armenia.
Students of Quantum College participate in the International Olympiads in astronomy, chemistry, informatics, mathematics, and physics, winning a total of 6 medals. The Olympiad team led by Armen Oskanyan and Sergey Nersisyan takes part in the International Astronomy Olympiad held in Crimea. A student of Quantum College, Tigran Nazaryan, receives a gold medal, while Artak Pepoyan wins a bronze medal.
Students from the Republic of Armenia participate in the International Olympiads in Astronomy, Chemistry, Informatics, Mathematics, and Physics. Among them are 10 students from Quantum College, who won 10 out of the 11 awards brought to the country. At the 15th International Olympiad in Informatics, held in the United States, students of Quantum College V. Musoyan and S. Gevorgyan returned with third-degree (bronze) medals. At the 8th International Astronomy Olympiad, held in Stockholm, our students Zhirayr Avetisyan and Mkrtich Soghomonyan won gold medals (first degree), while Artavazd Minasyan received a bronze medal. By the number of medals won, Armenia and India were among the leading countries compared to others.
The college is visited by the Rector of Yerevan State University, Academician R. Martirosyan, the Vice-Rector, Academician E. Chubaryan, faculty deans, and professors Yu. Vardanyan and S. Harutyunyan. For winning the city Olympiad for the fifth consecutive time, the college is awarded the “Grand Prize” of the Yerevan Municipality. The college is also visited by the Minister of Education and Science, Levon Mkrtchyan. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Quantum College, the institution is visited by officials from the Ministry of Education and Science, representatives of international organizations, and leaders of companies working in the field of new technologies. For outstanding achievements in education and on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the college’s foundation, R. Vardanyan receives the highest award of Yerevan State University — the Gold Medal. On April 6, the Council for the Development of Information Technologies, chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, A. Margaryan, approves the “Aragats” program, developed at the college, aimed at introducing information technologies and teaching informatics in general education schools. Sergey Shahverdyan is recognized as the absolute winner of the national Olympiad.
A student of Quantum College, Mkrtich Soghomonyan, is recognized as the absolute winner of the 2001 national school Olympiads and receives a special award from the Ministry of Education and Science. For outstanding results at the national school Olympiads, Quantum College is awarded a special diploma from the Ministry of Education and Science. For achieving the best results at the national Olympiad, the college receives a certificate of honor from the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, while its student Mkrtich Soghomonyan receives a special prize. A student of the college, Sargis Haytsoyan, receives a winner’s diploma from the International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad. Vahagn Yeghikyan, Zhirayr Avetisyan, and Mkrtich Soghomonyan achieve a brilliant victory at the 6th International Astronomy Olympiad. Teachers and students celebrate the opening of the “Ughetsir” camp of Quantum College.
A student of Quantum College, Areg Meliksetyan, participates in the World Mathematical Olympiad for school students, while Areg Beketovsky participates in the World Olympiad in Informatics for school students. A second computer classroom with internet access is opened at the college.
Tigran Ktikyan is awarded the Mendeleev International Mathematical Olympiad winner's diploma for the second time. School student Suren Samarchyan participates in the 40th International Mathematical Olympiad.
For an outstanding victory at the city Olympiad, the gymnasium is awarded the “Grand Prize” of the Yerevan Municipality. The Olympiad students of Quantum College are also recognized as absolute winners at the national stage. The Minister of Education and Science A. Petrosyan visits the gymnasium and, recognizing it as a leading center of the Olympiad movement, presents the school with books from his personal library. A student of the gymnasium, Tigran Ktikyan, returns home for the first time with a winner’s diploma from the International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad. Samvel Poghosyan participates in the International Olympiad in Informatics, held in Portugal.
The school begins to use teaching methods based on information technologies. The 5th grade is opened at the school. A social-psychological service is created.
A 6th grade class is opening at Quantum College.
The 7th grade opens at the school. The first computer class opens at the school. Minister of Education and Science Ashot Bleyan visits "Quantum".
By decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, graduates of the college are granted the right to enter physics and mathematics faculties of universities through an interview.
The 8th grade is opening at the school.
On March 6, the college receives license No. 001 from the RA Ministry of Education. The college graduates its first 21 students, 19 of whom are admitted to state universities in the first year by state order.
In September, the 9th and 10th grades of the college will begin operating, with a total of 50 students.
The Quantum educational cooperative is founded. Preparatory groups are opened for university applicants.
