The First Round of the “Hayagitak 2026” Competition Took Place
On February 21 of this year, the regular school-wide Armenian Studies knowledge competition took place. This year it was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Vladimir Ghazakhentsyan — the first head of the Lyceum’s History Department (1995–2010), author of the first Armenian history textbooks in independent Armenia, Doctor of Historical Sciences and Professor. As in previous years, the chairman of the competition committee was Hovik Grigoryan, Associate Professor of the Department of Armenian History at Yerevan State University and Candidate of Historical Sciences. He addressed the participants with a welcoming speech and emphasized the importance of students’ interest in Armenian studies subjects. Afterward, Mikael Malkhasyan, Head of the Lyceum’s History Department and Candidate of Historical Sciences, presented the technical requirements of the competition to the students. After receiving the tasks, students tested their knowledge in the following subjects: Armenian language and literature, Armenian history, geography of Armenia, history of the Armenian Church, Armenian culture, and social studies. A total of 62 students participated in the first round of the competition. The most active participants were 7th-grade students — 26 participants, while the smallest number of participants was among 8th graders — 15 students. Twenty-one students from the 9th grade took part in the competition. A few days later, the appeal process for the results took place. Based on the final results, the committee recommended 17 students with the highest scores to participate in the second round (in the final results table, the names of students who advanced to the next round are marked in italics and red). Since different tasks were given for each age group and different results were recorded, the passing thresholds were determined differently for each group. The second round will take place on March 7 in Room 403. Grade 7 — 15:00 Grade 8 — 16:00 Grade 9 — 18:00
