Representatives from Armenia participated in the **12th International Geography Olympiad of Europe** held in Varna, Bulgaria, from June 27 to July 3, achieving yet another joyful result. Mikayel Darbinyan, an 11th-grade student from **Quantum College** representing the Armenian national team, was awarded a **bronze medal**.
A total of 97 students from 20 countries participated in this prestigious international competition. The Olympiad was conducted in three rounds: written, field, and multimedia tasks. As a sister competition to the International Geography Olympiad (iGeo), it is conducted **entirely in English**. This requires participants to possess not only in-depth knowledge of geography but also advanced language skills, analytical thinking, quick orientation abilities, and readiness for fieldwork.
The Armenian team comprised five students:
* Three from **Quantum College**
* One from the **A. Shahinyan Physics and Mathematics Specialized School**
* One from the **Gyumri Academic Lyceum**
> Notably, one of the coaches for the Armenian team was Vardan Asatryan—a geography teacher and **former graduate** of **Quantum College**—representing both Yerevan State University (YSU) and Quantum College.
Former graduates of the college** who won the same Olympiad last year and are currently studying at leading international universities also assisted in training the team: Sati Hayrapetyan (Luxembourg School of Business) and Hayk Antonyan (KU Leuven).
Mikayel Darbinyan's bronze medal is a significant achievement not only for the Armenian national team but also for **Quantum College**. It highlights that the educational environment fostered at the college, combined with the students' goal-oriented hard work and the consistent support of their teachers, yields international-level results.
We warmly congratulate Mikayel Darbinyan, all the participants of the Armenian team, and their coaches, wishing them continued success on international platforms.
